Digital Imaging I (WECM-ARTC 1402; ARTC 1002): |

Course Description: Digital imaging using raster image editing and/or image creation software: scanning, resolution, file formats, output devices, color systems, and image-acquisitions. A solid introduction to Adobe Photoshop with specific attention to practical applications to include preparing images for print (halftone theory) and web output. Gain proficiency with Adobe Photoshop palettes, selections, layers, masks, image editing and painting. Introduction to layer styles, type effects, and filters. Encourages creative studio skills. Go to www.addall.com to search for least expensive copies of books. The course follows the CS 3 Classroom in a Book. There are comparable lessons in earlier versions of the text. Digital Imaging II (WECM-ARTC 2405; ARTC 1005): |
| Course Description: Principles of digital image processing and electronic painting. Emphasis on bitmapped- or raster-based image making and the creative aspects of electronic illustration for commercial and fine art applications. This includes intermediate to advance techniques using Adobe Photoshop to gain greater efficiency using masks and channels; short cuts and actions; type effects; and controlled use of layer styles, blending modes, filters and other special effects. Includes introduction to color management for output to print. Special attention is given to practical and artistic techniques. Prerequisite: Digital Imaging I or comparable. Instructor approval.
