Associate of Arts in GIS

The Geography Department at Austin Community College offers a two-year program leading to an Associate of Arts Degree in GIS.

GIS courses may also be taken as electives by students majoring in other areas of study or attending other colleges or universities. GEOG 2470 (Introduction to GIS) and GEOG 2471 (Advanced GIS) are the first two courses in the four-course GIS certificate at Texas State University – San Marcos.  Introduction to GIS (GEOG 2470) is also the prerequisite for the Master’s level GIS course at Texas State University – San Marcos.

In addition, both GIS courses can transfer to 4-year Geography degree programs at many other Texas Universities, including The University of Texas and Texas Tech University.
