The Austin Community College District supports the performing arts curriculum through the ACC Jazz Ensemble, which, through live performances, shall offer laboratory learning exercises to enhance the performance skills of its members in performance environments which shall benefit the public image of the College and the communities within the ACC District.

To serve these objectives, the following guidelines shall apply:

  1. ACC Jazz Ensemble membership shall be limited to ACC faculty and currently enrolled students.

  2. Neither the ACC Jazz Ensemble nor its members may charge or receive compensation.  The President, however, may authorize the College to accept reasonable honoraria or gifts voluntarily offered in appreciation for performances.

  3. The ACC Jazz Ensemble shall not perform outside the boundaries of the ACC District without the written permission of the President.

  4. Members shall not consume alcohol during any performance.

  5. The ACC Jazz Ensemble shall not perform at nightclubs, bars, hotels or events promoted by commercial enterprises, nor shall the commercial exhibition of its name be allowed.

  6. All performance requests shall be submitted to the designated Campus Dean in writing for prior approval.  The decision of the Campus Dean shall be subject to review at the discretion of the President.

  7. The ACC Jazz Ensemble may perform at events sponsored by the Chambers of Commerce of communities within the District (such as, but not limited to, Austin's Aqua Festival) or such other similar events of a primarily civic nature, whether or not sponsored by a commercial enterprise, as the President shall approve, taking into consideration the respective interests of the College, the communities within the District and professional musicians affected by the decision.
